Scholarships
Every year, VCU grants numerous scholarships to qualifying students. At VCU, a dedicated community of generous donors has pledged financial support to establish endowed institutional scholarships.
These scholarships aim to assist talented students in achieving their goals of obtaining a college degree.
AAAC Merit Scholarship
The African American Alumni Council Merit Scholarship was established by the African American Alumni Council. The funds will be awarded to a student who is enrolled full time on the Monroe Park campus, Pell Grant eligible, and has demonstrated academic performance. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated interest in, experience with and/or a commitment to African American Heritage. Preference given to freshmen.
AAAC Rodney A. Harry Scholarship
The African American Alumni Council Rodney A. Harry Leadership Scholarship was established by the African American Alumni Council. The funds will be awarded to a student who is enrolled as a full time student on Monroe Park campus, Pell Grant eligible, and has demonstrated academic performance.
Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated interest in, experience with and/or a commitment to African American Heritage.The AAAC Rodney A. Harry Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to students who meet the above criteria who also demonstrate leadership qualities and are involved in the community.
Barbara A. Roby Scholarship
The scholarship honors Barbara Roby's dedication to helping the disabled. The Roby scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students with a disability and demonstrated financial need.
Beverly Warren Scholarship
The Beverly J. Warren Scholarship is awarded to eligible full-time, undergraduate students in any undergraduate discipline within VCU. The applicants must be full-time, rising sophomores, juniors or seniors; meet university criteria of financial need; and have demonstrated engagement and leadership potential as evidenced through the Emerging Leaders Program, the living-learning Leadership Program, campus clubs and organizations, etc. Preference is given to students who are the first in their families to attend college.
Dorothy Fillmore Scholarship
The Scholarship is intended to support full-time degree-seeking VCU students who are the first in their family to attend college and/or who have been financially separated from their families' support. To be eligible, applicants must be actively engaged with the LGBTQ+ community.
Nester Family Scholarship
Awarded to VCU student with demonstrated financial need. Preference to students raised in a single parent household with demonstrated interest in equality, diversity, or social justice by participating in community activities, social groups, student clubs and organizations that support this focus.
Marianne Burns Brown Memorial Scholarship
The Marianne Burns Brown Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 in honor of Marianne Brown's lifetime of exceptional community service. In the last 25 years of her life, she gave more than 22,500 hours of volunteer service. The scholarship supports undergraduate students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who have evidence of outstanding public or volunteer engagement that directly impacts people in need, such as the sick, the elderly, and the homeless. Preference is given to those who have effectively inspired others to such service.
Marika Byrd Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the VCU Office of Student Accessibility and Educational Opportunity (SAEO). Students with any disability as defined by and registered with the SAEO are eligible. When possible, a member of the VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center will participate in the awards process.
Sica Family Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to incoming, full-time students on the Monroe Park Campus who are single parents, based on merit and financial need.
Virginia's Caring University Endowed Scholarship
The scholarship supports full-time undergraduate junior or senior students who maintains a GPA of 2.7, possess a need for financial assistance, and are employed a minimum of 10 hours a per week.
Walker Fund
The Walker Fund was created to provide scholarship support to VCU students in good academic standing who are a part of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (or future name of such program), and/or who are interested in migration studies, and/or who are involved in work or volunteerism at an organization with a mission to serve immigrant communities as identified by the Division of Student Affairs.
