Emotional wellness involves developing coping strategies to maintain resilience when one is met with challenges, staying on top of responsibilities, reframing stressful situations as an opportunity to grow, acknowledging feelings, and asking for help from a counselor or trusted friend/family member.

VCU Students report stress and anxiety as the #1 and #2 issue affecting academic performance (The Well's Health Survey, Spring 2016, n=856). What's your strategy for relaxation and stress management? The more tools in your toolbox, the better! Join us at The Well each Tuesday to learn and practice techniques to manage stress/anxiety. All are welcome. However, space is limited to the first 15 students who arrive.

The Hunting Ground-Movie Screening & Reception

Virginia Commonwealth University students, faculty and staff are invited to a screening of The Hunting Ground, a documentary that details the prevalence of sexual assault cases on U.S. college campuses and criticizes the response of university administrators to those cases.

Alive! Mental Health Fair

University Counseling Services in collaboration with the Wellness Resource Center, Residential Life and Housing and University Student Commons and Activities will host the Alive! Mental Health Fair on Sept. 16 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the MPC Student Commons Plaza to raise awareness for mental health and suicide prevention. From 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, please come and participate in many fun activities and your attendance may win you free prizes!

Work life, school life, squad life, how does a ram manage it all without buckling under the stress? Join Active Minds at VCU as we host "How to Ram Past Stress." Our presenter, Dr. Southam-Gerow, is the director of VCU Psychology Graduate Studies, co-director of the Anxiety Clinic, and associate editor of a psychology journal. He will be presenting findings on the two faces of stress, anxiety, the infamous impostor syndrome, and sharing tips on how to cope and make the best from all of it!
